GlgC is involved in the biosynthesis of ADP-glucose, a building block required for the elongation reactions to produce glycogen. It catalyzes the reaction between ATP and alpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate (G1P) to produce pyrophosphate and ADP-Glc.
