Background:

ClpR proteins are homologous to ClpP, but lack one or several of the catalytic site residues, and are therefore supposed to play a structural, rather than a catalytic, role in the complex. ClpR3 is ATP-dependent caseinolytic (Clp) protease/crotonase family protein. ClpR3 has serine-type endopeptidase activity.
