SKU5 is a protein of unknown function involved in directed root tip growth. It belongs to SKS proteins (SKU5 Similar) that is related structurally to the multiple-copper oxidases ascorbate oxidase and laccase, though it lacks the copper-binding domains. Research shows SKU5 affects two directional growth processes, possibly by participating in cell wall expansion.
