Background:

In mitochondria, type II NAD(P)H dehydrogenase may have a role in redox stabilization and regulation as energy bypass proteins together with AOX proteins (AOX1A, AT3G22370; AOX1B,AT3G22360; AOX1C, AT3G27620; AOX1D, AT1G32350; AOX2, AT5G64210). Arabidopsis thaliana NDA1 (AT1G07180) and NDA2 (AT2G32950) are paralogs displaying 82% amino acid sequence identity.
