Background:

Calcium-dependent protein kinases (CPKs or CDPKs) are aparticular class of protein kinases which are regulated not only by calcium but also by specific phospho-lipids and autophosphorylation. In Arabidopsis, CPKs are including 34 CPK proteins. CPK1 may play a role in signal transduction pathways that involve calcium as a second messenger. And it phosphorylates the Ca2+-ATPase ACA2 resulting in the inhibition of its calcium activation.
