Background:

CLPP6 is one of several nuclear-encoded ClpPs (caseinolytic protease). It cleaves peptides in various proteins in a process that requires ATP hydrolysis, and has a chymotrypsin-like activity. It plays a major role in the degradation of misfolded proteins.
