PLASTID REDOX INSENSITIVE2 (PRIN2) was identified using forward genetics as a chloroplast component involved in redox-mediated retrograde signaling. PRIN2 mutants are impaired in PEP (plastid-encoded RNA polymerase) activity and high light-dependent plastid redox signalling to the nucleus.
